So, go to the start menu, and go to Run. When the run box comes in, type "net stop msg" and hit enter or the OK button. This will stop the pop-up messages for now.
Ok, assuming you did NOT find this page through the main site, you probably picked a few keywords off of those lame ass pop up adds that show up in windows. So I will explain:
You have a standard windows service running, to turn it off you dont need to pay anybody money for any of that stupid crap that they try to charge you for. The same company that produces the stopper for the popup adds also produces the program that mass messages computers. I have set up a firewall rule that blocks all of this kind of crap from coming to me, and if you want to invest in a firewall it would be a good idea for your protection. Chances are, if you can get the pop-up messages, you need to get a firewall like Zone Alarm.
If you want to disable the messaging permanently WITHOUT installing a firewall, you must go to the control panel, administrative tools, then services. From there you must double click on the Messaging service and change the startup to "Disabled" instead of automatic or manual.
This will permanently disable those stupid pop up ads. If you need further info you can email me but there is no guarantee that I will respond as I am very busy and I cannot solve everybodies PC problems.
